On April 2, 2021, the China Intellectual Property Research Association issued a notice "On the Announcement of the First Batch of Registered Intellectual Property Appraisal Institutions and Appraisers in the Intellectual Property Appraisal Institution and Appraiser Registry". After review and public announcement, lawyer Zhan Shaofen from Hangzhou Tianxin Law Firm became one of the first batch of registered intellectual property appraisers.

"Intellectual property appraisal can provide a scientific basis for the trial and judgment of intellectual property disputes, which is conducive to demonstrating the fairness and justice of intellectual property law enforcement and helps create a good business environment." Recently, at the establishment meeting of the Intellectual Property Appraisal Professional Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Appraisal Committee) of the China Intellectual Property Research Association, Zhou Hui Guo, Vice Minister of the State Intellectual Property Office, expressed the hope that the Appraisal Committee will become an important platform to promote the professionalization and standardization of the intellectual property appraisal industry, an important base for cultivating and fostering intellectual property appraisal talents, and provide better technical support for strengthening the capacity building of intellectual property infringement appraisal, building a framework for comprehensive intellectual property protection, and strengthening intellectual property protection.

"Intellectual property appraisal must have its own professional committee to support strong intellectual property protection." Xie Xiaoyong, Vice Secretary-General of the China Intellectual Property Research Association and Chairman of the Appraisal Committee, said that the China Intellectual Property Research Association gives full play to its functions as a communication and exchange platform and bridge, and jointly established the Appraisal Committee with more than 20 appraisal institutions and more than 280 appraisal industry experts.

The purpose of the Appraisal Committee is to promote the professionalization of technical fact-finding in the field of intellectual property protection, to give full play to the technical support role of intellectual property appraisal in judicial trials, administrative law enforcement, and arbitration and mediation, to improve the level of intellectual property protection, and to help build a diversified dispute resolution mechanism for intellectual property.
